While it may seem like the PlayStation 5 has only just launched, Sony already has plans for a next-generation console, albeit unnamed, let’s just say it’s the PlayStation 6.
Documents filed by Sony with the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in opposition to the pending Microsoft Activision deal refer to Sony’s next system.
The anticipated dates have been removed in a few places, but by piecing together the context elsewhere in the document, we get a pretty clear picture of the timeframe Sony is working towards.
Of course, there’s a lot that could change between now and then. The PS5 has been really hard to find until recently, due to a chip shortage.
Sony will probably extend this generation a little longer to generate more sales.
